British Armed ForcestroopsDM0803_468x432

  • The Military Covenant with our Armed Forces is not being honoured.
  • MOD caused major delays by mishandling purchasing contracts for military equipment.
  • MOD civilian staff received £353 Million in bonuses.
  • Civilian MOD staff, working in the UK, received the same "Afghanistan Medal" that front line troops are awarded.
  • Whitehall MOD buildings refurbished to high luxurious standard at a cost of £2.3 Billion.
  • Senior Military Officers spent £230 Million on hotels and dining, but ONLY £16 on upgrading troop's accommodation.
  • Serving personnel on the front line in Afghanistan are still not being supplied with correct equipment.
  • MOD has failed to provide effective armoured vehicles, body armour, night vision goggles, FLIR goggles and sufficient helicopters.
  • Barracks and family housing remain sub-standard, classified as unfit for civilians and the prison population.
  • Lack of purpose built military hospitals to provide specialist care for troops severely wounded in battle.
  • Lack of after-care for troops once they leave the Services.

The Iraq Inquiry

The Iraq inquiry comprising a 5 man committee headed by Sir John Chilcot has started it's investigation.

  • Gordon Brown will not be called to give evidence so as to avoid embarrassing questions before the General Election.
  • Witnesses will not have to swear to tell the truth. (This will let Tony Blair off the hook).
  • The investigation will have NO judicial standing, so no sanctions against those who lied.
  • The 5 strong committee will not allow barristers to cross examine witnesses.

Several facts have so far emerged from the Chilcot inquiry.

  • Tony Blair and George Bush signed a secret deal ONE YEAR before the invasion of Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein.
  • Blair deceived Parliament and the British people by taking the UK into war in Iraq based on lies that Iraq possessed weapons on mass destruction.
  • Blair and Bush had no clear objectives, no clear strategy and no clear plans for post war outcomes.
  • Blair ignored advice from the most senior British law officer, that the invasion of Iraq was illegal.
  • The result of Blair's hidden agenda was that the invasion was a rushed operation, lacking in coherence and so under-resourced that British troops were placed in unnecessary danger.
  • Gordon Brown starved the military of the necessary funding to conduct the Iraq war.
